In 1999, Master P released his seventh album Man Down! It was his first album to be certified platinum by the RIAA, making it his first number one RIAA-certified album. He became the first rapper to have seven consecutive platinum certified albums on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. He also became the first artist in history to have six consecutive number one albums on the Billboard 200. In 2000, Master P released his eighth album Let's Get Dirty which was his first album to be released on his own label No Limit Records.
In 2006, Master P released his 11th studio album Let's Get It: Poppin'. It was his first album to be released through his own label G-Unit Records. After the release of Let's Get It: Poppin', Master P was banned from the BET Awards for a 2001 incident where he took a female fan to a back room, where he was later found by police.
