PurposeThis driver is written specifically for Intel Atom processor-based systems with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150. View the readme file for installation information and the release notes for driver version details. This driver package contains version 15.12.75.50.7.2230 for Windows 7*, 32-bit.
To install the repositories.intel.com/graphics package repository, add thefollowing to your Ubuntu installation. Prior to copy/pasting to your console, you may want to run sudo ls and enter your password to prevent the commandsfrom being swallowed by the sudo password prompt:
The above will make sure your system has gpg-agent and wget installed. It willthen download and install the public key used to verify the integrityof the package repository. Finally, it adds therepositories.intel.com/graphics repository to the system.
Download the latest Version Intel HD integrated graphics for Xe Dedicated, 6th-12th Gen Intel Core Processor Graphics, and related Intel Atom, Pentium, and Celeron processors. Driver version varies depending on the Intel Graphics in the system.
The Intel HD Graphics Driver is the latest driver release for Intel HD Graphics drivers running Windows. The drivers support HD graphics on Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, various Pentium and Celeron processors. This is the recommended driver for the early access release of the brand-new Intel Graphics Command Center. If not already installed, this driver will add the Intel Graphics Command Center to the system.
The below tables provide a comprehensive list of supported operating systems on a per-processor/graphics technology basis. Use the links below to find the appropriate section containing your IntelĀ® graphics product and its associated operating system support.
I tried copying the .xinitrc configuration file to standard user home directory; this did not seem to help. Do I need to manually install the "intel" and "fbdev" video drivers ( they are listed in the pacman -Ss xf86-video output above, but do not have"[installed]" after the version number line, as the vesa driver does ), and is this installation done through pacman ( i.e. pacman -S mesa )?
By code tags, do you mean just prepending and appending the scripts/commands with "code" and "/code" in brackets? It was not entirely clear to me what is meant after reading the Code of conduct. The xf86-video-intel driver page is just a file description; do you mean the Intel Graphics Archwiki page ( this refers to the mesa package )?
The intel driver should not be needed (nor is vesa) intel cards are well supported by the modesetting driver provided by the kernel. In most cases the intel driver does worse now. But even in other cases, the modesetting driver would work. Grepping the xorg logs for the EE lines is not helpful, those "errors" are perfectly normal. We need to see the full log to see what the actual problem was.
I'm completely new to this. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a new Dell desktop.I am having a problem with Xorg and compiz using >60% of a CPU. I think this is because my graphics driver is not being recognized, and so software is being used as the accelerator as opposed to the card.
Wednesday update:I found a "Driver Device Manager" tool of Intel. Installed it. It properly lists my graphics hardware as Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller, but the activated driver is the frambuffer display driver (fbdev). It gives me the option to, instead, activate the intel driver (version 2:2.99:910-0ubuntu1) with "Recommended" in the description. That's all fine and dandy.
I just installed Fedora 23 (basic KDE spin) on an HP Pavilion 550-150 desktop with i5 6400 cpu and Intel HD 530 graphics processor. I have an HDMI connection to a monitor, but when I boot it up, all I get is 800x600 resolution. The graphics are not distorted, just low res. I saw that the full Intel graphics stack is supposed to be provided with Fedora 23, but I noticed that some of the items listed in the 2015Q3 release (1.2.1?) are not there, e.g. intel-gpu-tools. I also tried to see if the Fedora 22 graphics installer worked with F23, but it doesn't. Am I missing something? What are the specific steps for getting the Intel graphics stack working with Fedora 23? Are there some unmentioned Xorg config things that I also need to do?
Hi - on Fedora the intel-gpu-tools have the same version as the xorg intel driver (they used tobe part of the same package, were split off some time ago but Fedora rolls the separate packagesback into one package so the intel-gpu-tools version is hidden). In any case, the GPU tools packageis more of a developer/debug thing - it's unlikely to affect day to day graphics performance.
Thank you for helping me with this problem. By the way, the xorg.x11.drv.intel-2.99.917-16.2015_x86_64 graphics driver is installed, but it must not be getting detected, since the lspci output doesn't list the i915 kernel driver??
i915 is the kernel driver (lshw -c video is about hardware interfacing)intel is the in-use Xorg driver (inxi -G is about userland graphics software)modesetting is the default Xorg driver (unloaded; not currently in use)

Even among Atom-based systems which have Intel 64 enabled, not all are able to run 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. For those Pineview processors which support 64-bit operation, Intel Download Center currently provides 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 drivers for Intel GMA 3150 graphics, found in Pineview processors.[23] However, no 64-bit Windows drivers are available for Intel Atom Cedarview processors, released Q3 2011.[24] However, Intel's Bay Trail-M processors, built on the Silvermont microarchitecture and released in the second half of 2013, regain 64-bit support, although driver support for Linux and Windows 7 is limited at launch.[25]
The lack of 64-bit Windows support for Cedarview processors appears to be due to a driver issue. A member of the Intel Enthusiast Team has stated in a series of posts on enthusiast site Tom's Hardware that while the Atom D2700 (Cedarview) was designed with Intel 64 support, due to a "limitation of the board" Intel had pulled their previously available 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 and would not provide any further 64-bit support.[26] Some system manufacturers have similarly stated that their motherboards with Atom Cedarview processors lack 64-bit support due to a "lack of IntelĀ® 64-bit VGA driver support".[27] Because all Cedarview processors use the same Intel GMA 3600 or 3650 graphics as the D2700, this indicates that Atom Cedarview systems will remain unable to run 64-bit versions of Windows, even those which have Intel 64 enabled and are able to run 64-bit versions of Linux.
The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 or GMA 3150 is an integrated (shared memory) graphics card that is located on the processor package of the Intel Atom N4xx processors. The graphics core is based on a GMA X3100 design (according to Intel) but features only two processor cores clocked at 200 MHz. Therefore, the performance is only a bit better than the old GMA 950 found in many Netbooks with N270 Atom CPUs.
